At THE MAX, we facilitate teaching and learning practices that enable our scholars to grow as independent learners, think critically, and apply learning to real-world situations. As the largest elementary school in NYC district 9, we provide a holistic educational experience that is difficult to replicate in a public education setting. By incorporating a socially responsive curriculum, we promote rich student discussion while integrating innovative Arts and STEM practices. This only happens at THE MAX; where a creative, caring, community nurtures the future innovators of tomorrow.

Our Principal Mrs. Roxanne Ledda:

Born and raised in the Highbridge section of the Bronx, I have learned many lessons that influence my work as the Principal of The Max. My Borough has infused in me a creativity that needs to be fueled by the Arts, STEM, and a desire to constantly reach new heights. From an early age, I understood that my education was the key to success and needed to be strengthened by innovation. The Bronx instilled in me the virtue of caring for more than myself but for my community, especially those that feel they do not have a voice. These principles guide my work at The Max and ensures our students are provided every opportunity for success.

Although my travels took me to Massachusetts for my first degree in Sociology, I ensured that the remainder of my education was obtained in the Bronx. With a Masters degree in Public Administration, Educational Leadership and Business Administration, I have excelled in my multiple roles within the NYC Department of Education. Ranging from bilingual special education teacher through Director of Early Childhood, my life and education experiences has led to an aspiration to serve my community in a creative and caring way that will bring The Max the success our students deserve!
